Ottomans and footstools come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, so it can be a little tricky to find the right one for your space.

First things first, think about where you want to put it. Ottomans are big and heavy, so you probably won't be moving it around a lot like a footstool. Most people like to put it in the middle of the sitting room, but you can also tuck it to the side or at the end of a bed.

If you want to put it in the middle of the room, you should choose one that's about two-thirds the length of your sofa. That way, everything will look balanced and in proportion. If you want to use it as a footrest and a coffee table, pick one that's a little shorter than your sofa. That way, it'll be more comfortable to put your feet up. Oh, and don't forget to leave some space, about 35 to 45cm, between your sofa and the ottoman so you can easily walk around.
